Telltale Games are good at adapting their source material because they understand what makes it great and why fans appreciate it. What started off with just The Walking Dead went on to Fables, Borderlands, Game of Thrones, Minecraft, and Marvel Studios‘ own Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s actually rather extraordinary how Telltale Games are trusted to tell stories based around so many well-known properties. So to have this legendary character incorporated into a Game developed by Telltale Games is just a dream come true.

It’s no wonder why Batman is so popular and still has a cult following after nearly 79 years of featuring in Comic-Books, Movies, TV Shows, and Games. And who can forget about his outstanding roster of villains. Not only is his character awesome and extremely enjoyable to follow because of his damaged storyline, he’s accompanied by some of the best structured side-characters seen within the world of Comic-Books. His character is very deep and personal, contributing to his dark, and detailed journey fighting crime within the corrupt streets of Gotham.

Oh yeah, don’t think that the decisions you made in Episode 1 won’t come back to haunt you somehow in Episode 5 because that is something Telltale Games knows how to do far too well, evaluating your entire gameplay in order to deliver the relevant outcome.īasically the games remember everything, so don’t think you can cheat it.Īnyway, enough about reviewing Telltale Games as a company, let’s actually talk about the subject matter at hand… You’re constantly on edge to make the right decision in order to get the best possible ending, running the risk of making one single mistake and messing up your progress, resulting in a darker journey ahead when friends turn against you and past mistakes come back to bite you in the arse. A decision in these games is all the difference between saving a life or getting someone killed. But Telltale Games isn’t daft in using this old formula and vamp it up so that your gaming experience is truly personal to your preferred gameplay, which can result in the many different developments within the narrative. Like a typical Role-Playing driven game you are given multiple options of how to interact with the many different characters and narrative threads, whether they be the answers you choice to reply to character conversations, choices in decision making, or reaction based events.

This game series adapts to the choices you make. This is reinforced at the beginning of every single game with the caption: The final significant approach Telltale Games uses is designing their games to revolve around a “Role-Playing Experience”, in which each of your decisions determines the narratives outcome. This concept is made even more apparent through generating multiple seasons of games, each continuing important plot-threads from the previous game, creating one-long story-arc for your characters to endure. Telltale Games opts for the episodic approach of releasing their games, creating a season’s worth of content before distributing each episode over the course of several months, making their games feel like a TV Show that you tune into each month until its conclusion in the explosive season finale.

I guess I’m not the best to describe this kind of thing because I’m not an artist, nor a game designer, but you get the jest of what I’m trying to convey. Instead of going for high-quality, and realistic, looking graphics they opt to utilise a more graphic novel styled concept which creates a colourful 3D drawn environment that makes you feel as though you’re experiencing an interactive TV Show. They have a distinct art-style that differentiates them from other gaming studios out there.

You instantly know a Telltale Game just by the way it looks. In many ways their formula identifies the company. Some might say that’s lazy, or runs the risk of making each game identical and repetitive, but Telltale Games finds a way to make each of their games unique and different from one another, despite sharing similar qualities. I definitely agree with the term, “If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it.” Telltale Games has this term down to a tee through establishing a well-functioning formula that they keep for each of their games.
